1966/67: military duty in Austrian Army
1967: commenced study of history as well as of English language and literature at the University of Vienna
1968/69: Fulbright undergraduate scholarship at Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT, USA
1972/73: German language instructor at Claremont High School, Kenton, Harrow, Greater London, GB
